Below is an important message we received about the great work and generosity that HTA members have shown. Thank you for supporting a fellow member, a sister, in need.

Danielle Montera's daughter, Callie, was diagnosed with DIPG approximately ten-months ago.  She was 8 years old and had the ability to inspire all of us to live life to its fullest, while enjoying all the little moments with her family and friends. She loved going to school to be with her friends, spending time with her sister Mia and drawing - lots and lots of drawing.  Danielle is a Guidance Counselor in Hauppauge High School.

The Hauppauge faculty and staff supported the family throughout their ordeal by completing a collection to assist with the needs of the family in June of 2019, a gift card collection in September of 2019 and most recently, a collection to have our own "Santa" Aiello distribute chrome books, wireless headphones, cases and gift cards to both Callie and Mia at the holidays.  We have come together again to honor Callie's memory by registering as the "HauppaugeRuns4Callie" team for the Defeat DIPG Sprint & 6K, an event organized by the Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation in Bethesda, MD.  While this year's event will be a virtual one due to social distancing guidelines, the Hauppauge faculty and staff will be flooding the streets of Long Island on May 24th to show Callie we will continue to "win" against DIPG.

"In a word - Amazing!  In just a matter of days we have reached 177 team members registered for the Defeat DIPG Superhero Sprint & 6K.  Great work.

Our registration was so noticeable that Jenny Mosier, one of the founders of the organization reached out to Danielle.  The Foundation was concerned that when they had to move to a virtual event they would not see the same participation as in a live event causing them to worry since this is their main fundraising event for the year.  Mrs. Mosier was in tears thanking Danielle and all of those registered for this worthwhile cause.  Please keep registering so we can meet our goal of 305 team members.

If you still need to register, here is the link to our team:

Finally, we know that some of us may not be in 6K (3.7 miles) shape, but we did not want to bombard people with emails.  With this in mind, some of the HS Phys Ed teachers have created a Google Classroom for us to use.  Weekly training regimens will be posted as well as suggestions for distance tracker apps, nutrition tips, etc will be posted.  For those interested the class code is:ysjgajt

If there are any questions please feel free to reach out and let us now. We really appreciate everyone's support for this great cause.
